Starseeker
Overview
Taking and giving tours around campus is tricky - statues move around periodically, and remembering where everything is and what's available for friends & family to see during their visits is very difficult. To solve this, my hackathon team created a prototype of our app called Starseeker. Named after a cartographer from Hearthstone, this app would help visitors and tour guides to navigate and collect points of interest around campus.
Role Visual design, UX, Facilitation, Motion design
Time frame 3 weeks
Tools & method Miro, Figma, Illustrator, After Effects
Process Led namestorming to determine the name of the app. Whiteboarded the flow with David and Albert in Miro and IRL. Next, I designed app interface and flows and prototyped in Figma. Recreated the WoW quest icon in Illustrator, as we couldn’t easily locate the original design files within the time frame of the hackathon. Mocked up the AR features in AfterEffects and integrated them with the clickable prototype.
Features
Sign in with Magic Link
Tour guides and visitors can log into the app using a magic link. Logging in with a Blizzard email address gives the user special privileges, like access to employee only areas and creating custom tours.
Taking a tour
Once logged in, a user can give a tour or take one (depending on their permissions). Along the way, opening the AR Camera lets users find points of interest and interact with them to find out additional info and the statue or artifact to their Collection.
Google Maps inspired wayfinding would also lead the user to each point of interest.
